Job Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing, supervising, and reporting on all financial accounting functions, including receivables, payables, asset management, reconciliations, compliance, financial analysis, and record-keeping. The role also involves developing and strengthening internal control systems to ensure robust financial stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports.
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with financial reporting standards and internal procedures.
- Provide regular financial reports to management.
- Record daily accounting transactions in the books of accounts.
- Ensure proper documentation and authorization of vouchers according to the authorization matrix.
- Prepare cashbooks and bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure effective working capital management.
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns in compliance with local regulations.
- Regularly review internal controls and monitor their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other departments on cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide necessary information during internal and external audits.
- Prepare and update the fixed asset register and initiate asset disposal when needed.
- Prepare monthly flash reports and periodic financial statements.
- Review the monthly payroll process.
- Liaise with relevant regulatory and statutory bodies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Management.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- CPA or ACCA certification is an added advantage.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial or accounting role.
- Experience in a security company is an added advantage (if applicable to your context).
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial regulations, and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in computer applications (Excel, accounting software).
- Ability to work independently and maintain high levels of accuracy.
